Meet Hannah Perri of Wrightwood Candle Company

Tell us about your products.

I make all of my soy-coconut wax candles in my home studio! I love how natural and clean burning they are. I went with a very minimal and simple label to cater to larger audiences and fit different home decor.

Tell us about your connection to Chicago.

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and attended DePaul University in Lincoln Park, where I met my husband. We purchased our first condo back in the neighborhood just north of DePaul. I named my company after the subset of Lincoln Park we live in as well as a street I live near :)

What do you love about your business, your industry?

I love how many different types of candles there are out there! It's been so fun to get to know the wonderful makers in Chicago - both within candle making and outside of that. The possibilities are so endless and the sky is the limit with what you can do!

Tell us about your design inspiration.

I like to keep things pretty organic and nature inspired with my decor. I use galvanized metal trays and frames, natural wooden crates and greenery to make my space come to life.

What advice do you have for other creative entrepreneurs?

Do not let fear of failure keep you from following your passion. Just do whatever you are excited about!

Will you share a favorite quote, a mantra?

Inhale confidence, exhale doubt.

Surprise us with your secret talent, fact, etc.

My great great grandma lived to be 108!

What's the most common question you get about your business?

Why did you decide to get into candle making?

Please tell us about your process for making + creating.

I love to listen to music and zone in when I am making candles. It's the time of day where nothing else matters and I just get to focus and create!

Name 3 local makers/brands that inspire you and why.

Wood and Wax Co, Lindsay Lewis and Town & Anchor. They are all beautiful artists and wonderful people. They have such a great following and really know what their customers want. I hope to be where they are in 4+ years.

What is the best advice you've ever been given and how has it shaped you and your business?

Still waiting on that ;)

Is there a new item you will debut at Covet?

I will have my holiday scents in full swing and will also be selling my black wood wick candles. SO PUMPED!
