Meet Jessica Hayes from eSutras Organics

Tell us about your business.

We are a local and independent business with a strong focus on Organic and chemical free products used to improve overall health and wellness. The company was founded by a Woman named A'isha Bauer whose mission it is to educate and make healthy options widely available. USDA Organic Certified, there are never any fillers in our products. We import ingredients from small and large, sustainable farms in the US and around the world, formulate our unique creations to produce the finished beauty, health and wellness goods, using local labor and locally produced sustainable packaging.

What do you love about your business and industry?

As a former Chef I have a passion for food and what it takes to get that from a farm to a table. I also have a deep appreciation for sustainable and local products. This company has managed to combine those two things in a way that has gotten me excited about working raw products all over again. I have learned a tremendous amount about natural and ayurvedic wellness as a lifestyle and absolutely love that there isn't a single chemical in our entire facility.

Tell us what inspires you.

Educating people about the small steps they can take in their day to day life to start feeling better. I also love that I am able to help come up with the formulas to our products. It is a great feeling to know people not only enjoy the products you put so much of yourself into but that you are helping to improve their well being.

What advice do you have for other creatives and entrepreneurs?

Keep pushing! It isn't easy to get your name out there but once you do, you'd be surprised how quickly things can take off.

What is something surprising about you (secret talent, unexpected fact, fear, etc)?

I went to Jr. Olympics for Water Polo a few times.

Tell us about your process for making and creating.

We start with the raw ingredients to build a foundation but we rarely say that is the final product. We blend, tweak and balance until we know we have something that people will enjoy. Something people will get excited abou using!

Name three local makers and brands that you are inspired by and why.

Local Foods- They are a company I have worked alongside in the past and they have a fantastic philosophy and approach to making fresh, sustainable and local ingredients available in the midwest year round. HandCut Foods- This is a company I worked with. They have the very difficult task of feeding 5,000 students a day and and making everything from scratch. They educate the students about what they will be eating and where it came from. They don't "dumb down" food. They encourage every student to try new foods and to make that food approachable. Inspiration Kitchen- They take people who were either homeless or incarcerated and give them the skills they need to work in the hospitality business, free of charge. They try and give people a future rather than give up on them.

What is the best advice you've ever been given and how has it shaped your business?

One step at a time. Tough you may be working on may projects and multitasking, realistically you can only get to the next step by not skipping the one directly in front of you.
