What do you love about your business and industry?

I love the creative process! After living and traveling abroad, I am able to travel through and with my work! I love to think about the patterns of life and my travels and apply it to my creative process. It gives me an endless amount of creativity and keeps the lid off of the box!

Tell us what inspires you.

I am inspired by world travels, Culture, nature, African tribes, World music, Folk music from the 70's, fashion, life and my multi-cultural heritage!

What advice do you have for other creatives and entrepreneurs?

Set goals...small goals and dreams as well as the larger ones. Write it down, don't compare yourself to others and follow your heart! Take some business courses to keep up with technology!

What is something surprising about you (secret talent, unexpected fact, fear, etc)?

I am double jointed in my thumbs and that allows me to work with heavier gauge brass when forging metals. (Really helps with the large stones I wrap with brass)

What is the most common question you get about you and your business?

"Where do you get your ideas/inspirations?

Tell us about your process for making and creating.

Moodboards are great! I love to lay out my materials and see where my eye lands...sometimes and more often than not, I am led to create or pair materials that I would have not thought of if I hadn't took the time to lay them out.

Name three local makers and brands that you are inspired by and why.

1. Karna at Karna Studio's - Her textile composition opens my mind to other ideas...she's very textile oriented and you can really see it in her work. She's also an amazing metal smith and fashion designer. She uses a lot of recyclable materials and I love that! . Made In is also super cool! Her castings are from her travels around the globe! She makes living seem so cool! She finds amazing little trinkets along the way and makes collections out of it! I love that she can do what she loves while seeing the world!

What is the best advice you've ever been given and how has it shaped your business?

Set small reasonable day to day goals and stick with it! That way you can set more goals and aim for those higher margins as you grow.
