Tell us about your connection to Chicago.

Moved to Chicago after completing my undergraduate degree in Arizona. I've lived in several neighborhoods, currently South Loop. Absolutely love this city.

What do you love about your business, your industry.

Have you ever seen anyone happier than when they eat delicious food?

Tell us about your design inspiration.

All of my inspiration comes from the traditional Lebanese cooking that I grew up with in my parent's home. My mom cooked six days a week and eventually published a cookbook (that I use OFTEN).

What advice do you have for other creative entrepreneurs?

Go after it!

I do everything at the company: bake, graphic design, accounting, marketing - everything you see is a skill I learned in the process of building this business.

What is elby? (It means "my heart" in arabic.)

What is the best advice you've ever been given and how has it shaped you and your business? 

After the "idea generation" stage, there is the not-so-sexy implementation stage. This is where a lot of entrepreneurs fall off. I realized this was very true for me over the course of my life, and I didn't want this to happen to my business. Every time I lose motivation or want to quit, I remember that this is the hard part, but the most important.
